Bread Street Kitchen & Bar Is Battering Up For Yorkshire Pudding Day And Pancake Day!

Renowned for serving British comfort food at its best, Bread Street Kitchen is inviting diners to experience two age-old British traditions

From the 7th to the 13thFebruary Dubai’s leading British restaurant will be paying homage to Yorkshire Puddings, while Pancake Day on the 16th February will appeal to anyone with a sweet tooth. Head Chef Cesar Bartolini, who has been working alongside Gordon Ramsay for 12 years, has crafted unique, distinctly British dishes for both of these themed dining experiences.

Yorkshire Pudding Day

For a whole week, Bread Street Kitchen is honouring the humble creation with savoury and mash-up creations based on the unsung hero of the Sunday roast – the perfect opportunity for guests to sample a variety of renditions of this doughy delight. For those new to the notion of the Yorkshire Pudding, this traditionally English food is made from batter consisting of eggs, flour, and milk or water. It is often served with beef and gravy and is part of the traditional British Sunday roast. The first Yorkshire Pudding recipe dates back to 1866 and was created by a woman called Mrs Beeton as a ‘trick ‘to fill-up the family so less meat could be served.

Special dishes served during the week include Giant Yorkshire pudding with a choice of roast beef, lamb or chicken with all the trimmings, Toad in the hole ( a traditional English dish consisting of sausages in Yorkshire pudding batter), accompanied by mash, onion gravy and fresh horseradish, as well as a hearty steak and kidney stew in a giant Yorkshire pudding with sides of mash, kale and wild mushrooms.

A signature cocktail, In the limelight (AED 65), which is created with an aromatic blend of elderflower and marmalade, will provide the perfect accompaniment to these traditional dishes.

Pancake Day

On Tuesday 16th February, Bread Street Kitchen will mark Shrove Tuesday by serving three unique pancakes, with all dishes priced at just AED 50.

Pancake day immediately precedes the first day of Lent i.e. Ash Wednesday, the beginning of 40 days of abstinence and fasting for Christians around the world. Traditionally this was also the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast – with pancake batter proving to be the perfect way of using up these ingredients.

Diners at Bread Street Kitchen can either opt for zesty lemon and sugar pancakes topped with lemon sorbet, decadent red velvet pancakes with seasonal berries and vanilla cream or triple chocolate ‘pancakes with chocolate ice cream, chocolate brownies and chocolate ice cream. Guests are invited to pair their pancakes with a signature BSK espresso martini (AED 65) with a twist of caramel syrup.
