John Shamon, Chief Technical Services Officer

John Shamon, Chief Technical Service Officer, Kerzner International, is a life-long hotelier with over 40 years of experience garnered at leading hotel brands around the world. Mr. Shamon is responsible for implementing design and development standards across new projects of the Kerzner flagship brand Atlantis, as well as Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort in Morocco. He is involved in the management of development and projects from pre-design stage through to opening.​

During his notable career, Mr. Shamon has worked on over 90 new and renovated hotel projects across 20 countries. His extensive international expertise includes a long tenure in the luxury segment, as well as experience in operational leadership roles and leading development business objectives. 

Mr. Shamon joined Kerzner from Rosewood Hotel Group where he held the position of Senior Vice President, Design and Project Services. Prior to this, he worked at Mandarin Oriental Group as Head of Technical Services for five years, based at the group’s headquarters in Hong Kong. John also spent over 10 years with Hyatt in their Asia Pacific Reginal Office. 

Having started his hospitality career in the Food and Beverage sector, Mr. Shamon held a number of positions across all levels, including five years as Regional Food and Beverage Manager for Hyatt. With a wealth of pre-opening experience and a strong interest in design, Mr. Shamon moved to Hyatt’s Corporate Technical Services Team, a field he remains in to this day. Mr. Shamon studied Asian & European History at Boston College and in addition to his passion for design, he has a keen interest in sports, wine education, history, architecture and global geopolitical affairs.
