Meet Star Sommelier Luvo Ntezo, of One&Only Cape Town opens in new window
One&Only Cape Town—a plush resort in the heart of the South African city—has much to boast about: its Table Mountain views, private-island spa and gourmet eateries, including Africa’s only Nobu. But the property’s greatest asset might be a particular employee: feted head sommelier Luvo Ntezo. The accolades under his belt are impressive—South Africa's 2008 Young Sommelier of the Year, fourth-best Young Sommelier in the world—but they’re that much more impressive given his background: a child of South Africa’s townships, Ntezo, 35, worked his way from dishwasher to worldwide wine sensation, with his own label slated to launch in 2019.
