One&Only Le Saint Géran Welcomes Back Guests as Mauritius Opens Borders

One&Only Le Saint Géran Aerial View

The iconic One&Only Le Saint Géran looks forward to start welcoming back international guests on 1 October to the Indian Ocean residence. Nestled amongst tropical gardens and azure lagoons, One&Only Le Saint Géran offers the ultimate Mauritian experience, secluded on its own private peninsula on the east of the island.

To celebrate, the resort has introduced a series of thoughtful and exciting new experiences for guests to enjoy, allowing them to not only indulge and unwind on property, but to also embark on adventures and discover the beauty of the island in true One&Only style.

Exhilarating Helicopter Rides

Guests staying at One&Only Le Saint Géran will have access to the resort’s very own helicopter which will take guests on enchanting excursions, inviting them to explore Mauritius with a bird’s eye view. Guests will be whisked away to take in stunning aerial views of the picture-perfect coves, undulating coastline, and rolling sugar cane fields. Perhaps the most famed of Mauritian sights lies just off the coast of Le Morne - ‘the underwater waterfall’ – a glorious illusion of a vast subaquatic waterfall, created by the formation of sand and silt on the ocean floor. Witnessing this dramatic image from the privacy of the One&Only Le Saint Géran helicopter will imprint a memory that is sure to last a lifetime.

For couples who wish to add a highly personalised element to the romantic experience, helicopter rides to remote and deserted islands can also be arranged, complete with personal messages amongst the sand dunes, visible from the air, ending the thrilling ride with a luxurious picnic on these private sandy atolls.

Gastronomy in Mauritius

The dining experience at One&Only Le Saint Géran has always been unrivalled, and this season is no exception. Tapasake has been re-imagined, showcasing pan-Asian, tapas-style fusion cuisine on the edge of the lagoon. Guests will also be treated to a series of innovative pop-ups from internationally renowned guest chefs, who will provide an exciting calendar of culinary delights. The culinary program will be punctuated by a Legends Dinner, celebrating not only the heritage of the resort but the ground-breaking culinary partnerships it continues to forge, further establishing itself as a gourmet destination on the island.

In addition, for rum enthusiasts or those who simply want to learn more about the fascinating history of the liquor, One&Only Le Saint Géran has introduced a ‘Rhummelier and Rum Tasting Experience.  Hosted by the resort’s resident Rhummelier, Oliver Ramtoul, who has been with the resort for over 20 years, during which he mastered the subject. Featuring the island’s diverse rhums including sherry cask, sauternes and other barrel aged and non-aged varieties, the experience will include seasonal Mauritian delicacies and light bites such as Iberian ham croquettes bound in a white sauce enhanced with Manchego cheese then encrusted with breadcrumbs. Oliver will guide guests on an educational and insightful journey from sugar cane to the national elixir, as he introduces the many rhums of the world.

Commencing the new season’s culinary calendar on 20 October, Prime, One&Only Le Saint Géran’s celebrated steakhouse serving seasonal organic produce and premium meat and seafood, will host a ‘Legends Dinner’ celebrating 46 years of One&Only Le Saint Géran. This convivial dinner will not only celebrate the year that the resort opened its doors but will also pay homage to a legendary dinner that took place in France that year. Five great chefs came together to curate a historical dinner for President Valery Giscard D’Estaing at the Elysée Palace in Paris, led by the late and great Paul Bocuse, the highly celebrated Michelin starred French Chef. Longstanding Prime Chef, Vikash Coonjan and his team will create dishes inspired by this historical year of events, with menu highlights including sea urchin soufflé with Rova caviar and sauce Caroline, broth of root vegetables, foie gras and truffle topped with cognac pastry, dry aged beef rib eye, house made chips and béarnaise sauce, accompanied by all the trimmings. Set to be a decadent affair, the dinner will be hosted by Roman Goetsch, General Manager of One&Only Le Saint Géran.

From 28 October to 6 November, Nick Honeyman will be the guest chef taking up residence at Prime. Owner of the famed Paris Butter restaurant in New Zealand and Le Petit Leon in France, Chef Nick expertly fuses French bistro elegance with a New Zealand flare, resulting in a modern flavour construction of elegance and robustness. Chef Nick will be working together with the resort’s Executive Chef Dwayne Cheer to create a Le Petit Leon pop up with Paris Butter influences. Guests can expect menu highlights such as poisson sauvage with beurre blanc and asperges blanches, and his special Limousin boeu vieilli a sec with ail noir.

October will also see the launch of La Badamier, a sophisticated al fresco restaurant located under the great Badamier tree of the resort. Offering completely unobstructed views of the Indian Ocean and a French Riviera style atmosphere, the menu at the casual, yet refined, lunch spot has been inspired by the very best of southern France and Italian cuisine, with a focus on quality ingredients and simplicity. Signature dishes include a delicate lobster and crab ravioli dressed in a light shellfish and sage infused butter, and line caught yellowfin tuna crudo enhanced with a chili, caper and citrus dressing.

The culinary team at One&Only Le Saint Géran look forward to announcing further culinary partnerships and experiences over the course of the coming months, as they introduce exciting and innovative gastronomic experiences for residents and guests alike.

Wellness the Mauritian Way

From 10-31 October, Cannes-based wellness partners Refuel Concept are back in the resort with a brand-new programme ready to re-boot guests’ wellness goals and improve overall fitness. Chef and Vinyasa yoga teacher, Naomi Teal and Master Trainer Bolko Aleksiev are the dynamic duo returning with a host of new training camps, healthy pop-ups and state-of-the-art fitness programmes. New activations include:

New High Vibrational Lunch Menu at the new Spa Dining, One&Only Spa

Fuelling the body with high vibration energy is facilitated through the consumption of plants’ life force energy which have been absorbed from the sun and the earth. These lighter (less dense) foods nourish the body, assist with detoxification, decrease inflammation and in turn, increase and raise each person’s very own vibrational frequency, which over the long term, will optimise one’s health. This new daily lunch-time raw dining experience will offer innovative and refreshing dishes that are light and seasonal to Mauritius, accommodating a wide range of dietary requirements. These include vegan and gluten free dishes such as a ‘palm heart ceviche salad’ packed with plant-based protein and essential minerals, promoting digestion and optimum immunity, and ‘local moringa watercress soup with activated almonds and avocado’ which is nutrient dense and rich in minerals.

Refuel Concept Pop-Up at Ace Bar, Club One

This experience will offer nourishing foods that will satisfy both serious athletes and the calm cleansers. Providing pre and post workout fuel, the Refuel Concept pop-up bar will serve fresh juices and smoothies using local and seasonal produce, bullet proof coffees to give workouts an extra energy boost, and sugar and gluten free vegan snacks as a natural pick-me-up and to help curb sweet cravings. This activation of Ace Bar aligns with Refuel Concept’s Wellness Programmes, creating a retreat style experience at Club One that can be seamlessly incorporated into the guest’s stay.

Wellness Morning with Lexy Yoga

On 22 and 29 October, Alexia Langlois, otherwise known as Lexy Yoga, the resort’s resident SUP (Stand Up Paddle) Yoga expert will guide guests on an experience to restore mind, body and soul. As the sun rises, guests can join Lexy on her SUP in the calm and pristine lagoon of One&Only Le Saint Géran, practicing yoga with the first rays of the warming sun rising over the Indian Ocean, celebrating the arrival of a new day. Guests will finish their SUP practice with a special meditation session and be guided by Lexy on a journey immersed in nature and gratitude. A healthy breakfast with Lexy will set the intentions for the day, concluding the wellness morning.

For Younger Guests

For younger guests, on 20 and 29 October, the resort will host the Brainiacs Creative Writing Nature Adventure for children aged 6-10 years. A half day experience led by Lexy Yoga and her mother Bridget, a former headmistress with 32 years of teaching experience, will take younger guests on an adventure to uncover the nature of the resort on a treasure hunt like no other. Children can learn about the extraordinary tropical wildlife that inhabits the island, and the important role birds, plants and trees play in preserving its delicate eco-system, whilst also enjoying creative writing sessions, picture making and a special children’s yoga practice in the midst of nature, on the resort’s vast peninsula.
