Suspended over the slopes of the forest and offering breathtaking jungle views, the One&Only Spa is a blissful sanctuary for guests looking for a moment of calm to complement their adventures in the Nyungwe National Park. Guests can rejuvenate with treatments accompanied by the backdrop of the soothing sights and natural sounds of the forest in the privacy of their expansive treatment room. The spa offers two spa suites, one couples’ suite with outdoor jungle-view showers, and one single suite, both offering private decks that reach out into the rainforest for relaxation or outdoor treatments. For guests not wanting to leave their rooms, they can also enjoy spa treatments in their villas on their private decks.
One&Only Spa has partnered with Africology, a luxury natural body and skincare brand to create a range of bespoke treatments for guests. Signature treatments include Intoga Amasatchi, a 60 minute, deep-tissue, full-body signature treatment using hands and differently sized wooden sticks, which traditionally represent the wisdom and direction of the healer to stretch tight muscles and relieve toxic overload. The African Imana Facial starts with a shea balm-infused back massage followed by a wonderful ritual that involves cleansing, massage and sound therapy for a holistic wellness experience. Other treatments include the Fire Ritual that works deep into the muscular system to release stiffness and pain followed by fire visualization and breath work to ignite faith and inspire the mind.
The One&Only Spa pays homage to its surroundings through design and architecture, incorporating the traditional Rwandan art of Imigongo, with handcrafted black and white striking geometric patterns found on the walls through hand-woven plates, wooden panels as well as the spiral patterned rug at the entrance, beautifully crafted log tables burning fragrant Africology candles, and during the colder months a burning fireplace to warm the space.
The resort’s remarkable infinity-edge swimming pool and pool deck over the edge of the forest offer awe-inspiring jungle views. Following treatments, guests are welcome to relax on the spa deck, on one of the large, hanging swings or visit the heated pool conveniently located next to the spa. Two floating decks looking out to Nyungwe National Park offer once-in-a-lifetime locations for tranquil yoga classes, meditation or to enjoy a meal prepared by one of the resort’s chefs.
Guests are able to maintain their fitness regime at the resort’s Fitness Centre, also located next to the Spa, it is equipped with the latest Technogym™ equipment with customised training for cardio, movement and stretching. For a workout with a difference, the resort offers ‘Nature’s Bootcamp’ a moderate to challenging outdoor jungle trail led by a motivating guide in the fresh, mountain air.
