One&Only Desaru Coast Introduces Ember Beach Club with Dining by Chef Andrew Walsh

One&Only Desaru Coast will unveil Malaysia’s ultimate beach club, with dining helmed by critically-acclaimed Chef Andrew Walsh. Perched on the edge of the secluded coastline, amidst lush greenery, Ember Beach Club will be a revered destination for dining, an oasis for live music, a hub for water sports and a coveted place to be, the definitive in relaxed seaside luxury.
Ember Beach Club is Chef Walsh’s first venture outside Singapore, with an exciting culinary programme inspired by the age-old tradition of open-fire cooking; elevated and infused with Asian flavours. Framed by the sound of cascading waves and lingering sea breeze, guests are invited to enjoy a selection of hand-crafted cocktails, light bites and heartier sharing plates, that celebrate a variety of the best regional and seasonal ingredients. Freshly caught seafood from local fishermen and expertly prepared prime meats showcase Chef Walsh’s distinct take on the art of barbecue.
From sunrise to sunset, Ember Beach Club is set to inject a dose of buzz and energy to the tranquil Desaru Coast, where guests can truly escape from the city and enjoy beach life and gastronomic temptations amidst the cerulean sea views. Tantalising starters and lighter fare inspired by the sea include Hokkaido Scallops lightly dressed in a white soy ponzu and topped with fresh radish and yuzu, and Grilled Prawns Satay with a refreshingly tart lime dressing and mango slaw. The selection of moreish Flatbreads include vegetarian toppings such as decadently creamy burrata and burnt tomato, with Thai basil pesto elevating the classic Italian pairing.
Perfect for sharing as a main course, Grilled Seabass is served with green curry and fragrant coconut rice, whilst the Grilled Baby Lobster is cooked in its shell over embers and basted with rich brown butter and a home-made XO sauce to tease out the natural sweetness of the fresh meat. Carnivores can indulge in tender Wagyu Ribeye with kampot black pepper sauce and shallot jam, while equally creative side dishes and vegetable courses such as the Green Asparagus and Kale tossed with a tangy miso and mustard dressing, and Charred Fennel, Orange and Olive salad, can stand alone or complement main courses. Desserts will include a refreshing Grilled Pineapple with Szechuan Pepper and Basil Sorbet, whilst Textures of Chocolate & Burnt Orange offers a delightful sensorial medley of cacao cut with citrus notes.

The ample open-air terraced bar overlooks the two infinity pools and beach where water sports such as wakeboarding, kayaking and water skiing are available. One&Only Desaru Coast and Ember Beach Club will begin welcoming guests in 2020. Ember Beach Club opening hours are 11am to 8.30pm on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 11am to midnight on Friday and Saturday for the main restaurant. The pool and beach menu are available daily from 10am to 8.30pm. Ember Beach Club is open to guests of all ages, with a resort elegant dress code at the restaurant.
