THE AMBASSADOR LAGOON

The Ambassador Lagoon is an 11-million-litre marine habitat and one of the top ten largest aquariums in the world. It is also the largest open-air aquarium in Africa and The Middle East at just over three million gallons. Home to approximately 65,000 marine animals, the lagoon’s viewing pane, located in Poseidon’s Court is 10 meters long and 70cm thick and provides guests a unique window into the underwater world of Atlantis. This habitat focuses on marine life found in the local waters of the Arabian Gulf, including Golden Trevallys, Cobias, Crescent Angelfish and a variety of sharks and rays. Here, guests can watch the sea life peacefully and learn about fish species and ocean preservation.

Aqua Trek

The latest state-of-the-art water thrill will see intrepid explorers descend a ladder 3 metres to a ledge in The Ambassador Lagoon whilst wearing an Aquatrek helmet. This helmet receives a continuous supply of air (3x more than what you normally breathe), so that the entire head remains dry, including hair, glasses or prescription contacts. Once you have reached the ledge, you will embark on a guided underwater walking tour of one of the biggest open-air aquariums in the world, coming face-to-face with over 65,000 marine animals including sharks, stingrays, and schools of multi-coloured fish.

Aqua Trek by Night

Aquatrek By Night differs from the resort’s existing Aquatrek offering in that you will explore the Ambassador Lagoon at dusk when the marine predators become most active. Use nothing more than your underwater torch and be amazed by the 65,000 marine animals surrounding you.

Aqua Trek Xtreme

The latest state-of-the-art water thrill will see intrepid explorers descend a ladder 10 metres to the bottom of The Ambassador Lagoon whilst wearing an Aquatrekhelmet. This helmet receives a continuous supply of air (3x more than what you normally breathe), so that the entire head remains dry, including hair, glasses or prescription contacts. Once guests have reached the bottom, they will embark on a guided underwater walking tour of one of the biggest open-air aquariums in the world, coming face-to-face with over 65,000 marine animals including sharks, stingrays, and schools of multi-coloured fish.

Aquatrek Xtreme differs from the resort’s existing Aquatrek offering in that it is deeper – the deepest in the world – and also covers a lot more ground as participants traverse the floor of The Ambassador Lagoon. The experience currently operates in 27 countries across five continents, but this is the first time that it will reach a depth of 32 feet/10 metres.

Ultimate Snorkel

Guests can gaze upon the ancient ruins of Atlantis as they snorkel through the awe-inspiring Ambassador Lagoon. The Ultimate Snorkel is a spectacular family activity allowing guests to swim with 65,000 marine animals, including sharks, fish and many species of rays. Experienced marine experts guide guests on a journey through The Ambassador Lagoon, an 11 million litre, 10-metre-deep, marine habitat and underwater exhibit.

Atlantis Dive Discovery

This experience is an introductory diving experience designed specifically for non-certified divers giving new divers a basic skill session before a 20-minute dive. Guests will learn basic diving skills and then meet our sharks, napoleon wrasse, colourful angel fish and butterflies amidst the ruins of Atlantis. It’s a great jumping off point to the full PADI diving certification.

Atlantis Dive Explorer

A 30 minute dive session where divers will come face to face with sharks, fish and rays. Certified divers can delight in the rare experience of diving alongside incredible sea creatures and marvel at the artifacts the ancient Atlanteans left behind, in this single tank dive.

Predator Dive

The Predator Dive promises the experience of a lifetime. Descend into the world-famous ambassador lagoon for the unique opportunity to hand-feed up to 14 different species of sharks and rays amongst 65,000 marine animals. PADI certification is required.

THE LOST CHAMBERS AQUARIUM

Guests are invited to enter the corridors of The Lost Chambers Aquarium to learn about The Lost City of Atlantis, its culture, technology and ancient citizens. With 21 exhibits to see, the Chambers are home to over 250 different species of marine life including Clownfish, Jellyfish, Regal Tang, Piranha, Lobster, Seahorses and sharks. Guests can also enjoy daily feeding sessions from 10:30-15:30 in the lagoons and exhibits, which are supervised by Atlantis ‘Seakeepers’ offering visitors the chance to hand feed their favourite fish. Fish Tales Tour

Guests are invited back of house to see what it takes to care for over 65,000 marine animals in Atlantis with the behind the scene tours. Following the water’s path to our filtration systems, the tour reveals the 5.9km of pipe work used to filter the lagoon (which is longer that the length of the Palm itself) as well as showcasing the jobs of the 45 people who work around the clock to ensure the water is successfully filtered. Guests are then welcomed to the Atlantis fish hospital and nursery, where interactions with newborn jellyfish, seahorses, clownfish, sharks and rays happen daily. The tour ends on a visit to the fish kitchen where the team prepare over 400 kilos of food per day, culminating with a fish feeding.

Underwater Yoga in The Lost Chambers Aquarium

A first of its kind in the region and set against the mesmerising tranquility of the Ambassador Lagoon, guests are invited to take part in underwater yoga every Tuesday and Friday at 8am. Surrounded by a majestic 65,000 sea creatures, guests have the opportunity to rejuvenate and restore in a unique aquatic surrounding practicing Hatha Yoga, a discipline that helps bring peace to the mind and body. The class is open to all different levels.
