A Destination Resort in South Africa’s Most Vibrant City

One&Only Cape Town has 131 guest rooms and suites, the largest in the city with a minimum size of 63m2, all with a private terrace or balcony and breath-taking views of the resort’s private marina and waterways or panoramic vistas of Table Mountain. The resort has 40 spacious guest rooms and suites set on an adjacent private island, a serene space overlooking the waterways, these guest rooms have a distinctive resort feel and convenient access to the infinity pool and separate Spa Island.

Cape Town-based architects Dennis Fabian & Berman and Ruben Reddy designed the seven-storey stylish property to integrate seamlessly into the Waterfront District. The interiors were created by internationally acclaimed New York based interior designer Adam D. Tihany. The resort’s feel is contemporary whilst drawing on Africa’s culture and heritage. Tihany’s approach of imbuing each of his projects with a sense of the surrounding culture runs parallel to One&Only’s core philosophy of providing distinctive experiences that take guests to the very heart of the destination.

Indulged with every conceivable luxury, the Presidential Suite features two bedrooms complete with king-size beds and awe-inspiring views of Table Mountain. Warm, neutral fabrics impart a residential feeling and sumptuous pillows provide splashes of colour throughout. The master bedroom includes his-and-her bathrooms, each with a rain shower (one converting into a steam room), private water closet and marble vanities. Works of art and photography from South Africa’s most prominent artists adorn the foyer, entertainment area and dining room. Seating up to 12 guests, this can be used for a private dinner or business meeting. A fully-equipped kitchen, with a separate entrance, allows the 24-hour butler or private chef access. Completing this luxurious suite is a fully equipped personal gym with massage bed.

Atop One&Only Cape Town, with unobstructed views of Table Mountain, Robben Island, Devil’s Peak, Lion’s Head, the Cape Town Harbour and the V&A Waterfront rests The One Above penthouse. The exquisite interior is two-storeys and an impressive 1,275m² and comprises of four generous en-suite bedrooms, a stylish library, handsome study with fireplace, fully-equipped gym and sauna, beautiful kitchen and scullery with its own service entrance and two separate outdoor entertainment spaces – both with private swimming pools, spectacular views and BBQ facilities. Designed in a modern contemporary style with an open-plan layout and floor-to-ceiling windows to maximise light and frame the outlook, and an impressive art collection adorning the walls and spaces. The One Above is the ultimate luxury residence and for the utmost discretion the penthouse can be accessed by a private entrance and elevator.

A destination for world-class dining for visitors and locals alike, One&Only Cape Town is home to the only Nobu in Africa, serving global renowned Japanese-Peruvian cuisine, with a selection of dishes that hero local South African ingredients. Ochre offers a contemporary interpretation of age-old South African recipes, celebrating the rich culinary heritage of the Cape. The resort’s impressive tri-level Wine Loft with mezzanine tasting room houses an expertly put together collection of over 5,000 bottles, with a special focus on acclaimed and undiscovered South African vintages. Famed for its decadent Afternoon Tea and innovate cocktails, Vista Bar & Lounge is at the heart of the resort, framed by the backdrop of Table Mountain.

The resort’s main pool area, located on one of two private islands linked by bridges, features a heated 350m2 freeform, infinity-edge swimming pool, a private sitting area with double chaise lounges for sunbathing, and shaded trellis pavilions for those seeking respite from the sun. Laid-back bites and chilled drinks are served from relaxed pool-side restaurant, Isola.

The exclusive Spa Island features the most comprehensive and expansive spa in Cape Town. An oasis of serenity and privacy surrounded by water and dense vegetation, the 1,000m2 One&Only Spa offers 12 treatment suites of which two have private wet areas for couples’ treatments. Two vitality pools complement the relaxation spaces, sauna and steam rooms, and a relaxation lounge offering snacks and beverages. One&Only Spa offers tailored treatment plans, making use of powerful authentic techniques, indigenous ingredients and highly natural, paraben-free products produced by ESPA. In addition, facial treatments are available in partnership with French premium skincare brand Biologique Recherche, who have developed an innovative skin assessment and treatment system using their own unique range of high-end skincare products, all of which are formulated with high concentrations of pure, raw ingredients from Botanical, Marine and Biological actives, with no added Parabens, SLS, or Silicones.

The 200m2 One&Only Fitness Centre, located in the main resort building, features state-of-the-art fitness equipment from Technogym® with personalised workout programmes developed for guests and residents. A dedicated Kinesis training room offers tri-dimensional pulley system training and there are spacious studios for Yoga and Pilates. Qualified Personal Trainers may be booked by guests for assessments and individual training sessions.

One&Only Cape Town also has a specially designed KidsOnly for younger guests from 4 years and older. KidsOnly offers both indoor and outdoor games and activities such as African beading, swimming lessons, junior yoga, storytelling and baking classes. Full and half day programmes are also on offer, and include trips to Two Ocean’s Aquarium, Art Jamming, Boulders Beach and Penguin Colony, among others. These are all supervised by a team of friendly and highly trained child minders to ensure younger guests are engaged, safe and happy.

For guests with a large function in mind, there is an extensive Ballroom measuring 216m2 - able to host up to 250 people for cocktails and 120 guests for a sit-down meal. The space can also be divided into two separate rooms for a smaller setting. For meetings, the adjacent Meeting Room seats 40 and the Business Centre Boardroom seats 12 people.

Situated on the first floor of the resort is The Melrose Gallery, the second home to the successful gallery space born in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. The partnership, which began in 2019, is a showcase and celebration of the work and ideas of pan-African contemporary artists. With four captivating exhibitions per annum, the gallery at One&Only Cape Town is open to guests and local residents, supporting African art, culture and creativity. To commemorate the gallery opening, One&Only Cape Town and The Melrose Gallery unveiled six paintings commissioned for the occasion by internationally acclaimed South African artist Dr Esther Mahlangu. Hailed as a national treasure, Dr Mahlangu has captured the interest and imagination of the world with her creative interpretations of the sacred geometry and practices of Ndebele and African culture and continues to be a proud and regular exhibitor at One&Only Cape Town.
