Sea Turtles of the Two Oceans: A Curated Experience in Support of Global Sea Turtle Conservation

One&Only Cape Town is thrilled to announce a new Curated Experience in partnership with the Two Oceans Aquarium Education Foundation, the non-profit and public benefit partner of the Two Oceans Aquarium, celebrating some of the world’s most loved creatures of the sea. The Turtles of the Two Oceans experience provides guests of One&Only Cape Town with exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to the important conservation efforts of friends and neighbors, the Two Oceans Aquarium. This unique-to-One&Only Cape Town experience is one of several on offer at the resort that aim to highlight and celebrate the natural splendor of the location, with particular emphasis being given to the importance of education and conservation in protecting our ocean and its inhabitants.

The South African east coast is a popular nesting ground for loggerhead and leatherback turtles, however, each year countless helpless hatchlings are ejected from the Agulhas Current, unable to survive the cold waters of the Cape. Consequently, the Aquarium Foundation is actively involved in the rescuing, rehabilitation and releasing of stranded and distressed sea turtles as part of their conservation mission. The impact of their work is hundreds of sea turtles having been saved, cared for to full strength and released back into the wild.

Guests can expect to depart the resort by foot, arriving at the Aquarium in under two minutes. During the private excursion, guests of One&Only Cape Town will be able to experience and learn more about the incredible work carried out to get these endangered animals healthy and back into the ocean. Guests will have the opportunity to assist with turtle care tasks such as cleaning, feeding and enrichment exercises while spending time with the Aquarium Foundation’s turtle specialists and learning more about the incredible conservation, education and research work carried out by the Foundation team.

Following the approximate 90-minute interaction, guests are free to explore the Two Oceans Aquarium’s public attractions such as the touch pool, shark exhibit, kelp forest and penguin exhibits at leisure. Turtles of the Two Oceans is a fun, interactive, and educational experience, perfect for children and adults alike with a maximum group size of four people.

The experience is set to re-launch in November and will run until March 2022. Guests booking the experience at One&Only Cape Town from 1-30 November 2021 will be able to enjoy the special opening price of R3000 per group of four, and R6000 thereafter. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the Turtle Rescue Programme, assisting the Foundation with the continuation of their efforts to impact real change for sea turtles and the ocean. Turtles of the Two Oceans forms part of a larger selection of Curated Experiences offered by the Resort that include wellness experiences, wine and dining experiences as well as fun and interactive excursions for little ones.
